Temperatures Drops In Kashmir, Srinagar Records Below-Normal By-2.5°C

Srinagar: Kashmir valley logged sub-zero temperatures marking a frigid turn in the weather with Srinagar recording a below-normal temperature of -2.5°C as the sun set.

According to data shared by the Meteorological Centre, during the day, the city saw a maximum temperature of 12.6°C, which was below the normal average of -2.5°C.

In South Kashmir, top tourist destination Pahalgam, also felt the cold as maximum temperatures dipped to 13°C below normal by -2.0°C. Qazigund, the gateway town to the Kashmir Valley, recorded 14.3°C, below-normal by-2.0°C, while Kokernag experienced 12.6°C, slightly below normal by -0.1°C. Reports from Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam were unavailable.

Moving to North Kashmir, the world-famous skiing resort Gulmarg reported a maximum temperature of 10.5°C, below normal by -0.5°C. Kupwara recorded 12.6°C, below normal by -1.2°C. Reports from Gurez, known as the valley's coldest place, along with Bandipora and Baramulla, were not available.

Similarly, updates from Central Kashmir's Ganderbal and Budgam districts were also unavailable.

In the Pir Panjal region, Banihal experienced relatively milder weather, logging 21.4°C. However, details from Poonch and Rajouri districts were not provided.

In the Chenab Valley, Bhaderwah reported 18.5°C, while information from Kishtwar was unavailable.

Heading to the Zanskar region, Leh recorded 9.7°C, while data from Kargil was not available.

Across the LOC (Line of control) in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, Muzaffarabad noted 22.0°C, and Mirpur experienced a warmer 27.5°C. Reports from Skardu, Gilgit, and Hunza were available.
