Srinagar Evening Freezes At -1.2°C

Srinagar: Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar experienced a freezing evening on Tuesday as the minimum temperature dropped to -1.2°C (below-normal by -1.8°C), according to data provided by the Meteorological Department.

Across South Kashmir, the top tourist destination of Pahalgam registered -2.9°C, marking a deviation below normal by minus 0.9°C. Qazigund, the gateway town to the valley, reported -0.8°C, lower than the normal by -1.6°C, while Kokernag noted -0.2°C, below normal by 0.6°C. Unfortunately, reports from Kulgam, Pulwama, and Shopian were unavailable at the time of reporting.

In North Kashmir, the world-renowned skiing resort of Gulmarg witnessed a minimum temperature of -0.6°C. However, reports from Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla were not accessible.

Moving to Pir Panchal’s Banihall, the minimum temperature recorded was 2.8°C. Reports from Poonch and Rajouri were not available.

Jammu reported a relatively milder temperature of 11.2°C, while Katra recorded 11.0°C.

In the cold desert of Zanskar, Leh faced a bone-chilling -6.0°C. Unfortunately, reports from Kargil were missing.

In Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, Muzaffarabad recorded 8.4°C, and Mirpur registered 10.2°C. However, reports from Gilgit-Baltistan were not available.
