Srinagar: Shooting stones triggered by rainfall in the Kishtwari Pather area have led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Monday afternoon. This 270-kilometer stretch serves as the primary artery connecting the Kashmir valley with the Jammu region.

According to a traffic official, “Around 5 PM, continuous shooting stones at Kishtwari Pather led to a complete halt in traffic.”

He added, “Efforts are ongoing to mitigate the halt immediately.”

Instances of light shooting stones from hillocks were also reported from other locations throughout the day, he added.

Moreover, authorities have issued advisories urging people to refrain from traveling along the highway until conditions improve and the road is cleared.
