Srinagar: Dry winter conditions continue on the 15th day of Chillai-Kalan (the Harshest Forty-day Winter Period) across the Kashmir Valley, with the upper reaches of north and south Kashmir recording above-normal temperatures on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the Meteorological Department, dry weather will continue. However, there is a possibility of light snowfall over isolated higher reaches in the valley on January 8.
As per the details, South Kashmir’s top tourist destination, Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 5.1°C against minus 6.6°C on the previous night, above-normal by 1.5°C and North Kashmir’s World famous skiing resort logged a low of minus 4.2°C against minus 3.8°C, above-normal by 2.8°C.
Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar recorded a minimum of minus 4.8°C, below-normal by 1.7°C.
In south Kashmir, While Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 3.4°C against minus 4.6°C on the previous night, Kokernag logged minus 2.44°C against minus 3.2°C on the previous night, above normal by 1.1°C.
Jammu recorded a minimum of 4.7°C against 7.0°C on previous night, below normal by 2.6°C.
Pir Panchal’s Banihal recorded a low of minus 0.4°C and Chenab valley’s Bhaderwah logged 1.1°C.
