Srinagar: A government employee, identified as Javid Ahmad Sofi, working at SKICC, has been suspended for violating the MCC guidelines by participating in and facilitating political party meetings in Srinagar on Thursday.
In an order, the LG administration stated: “One government employee, namely Javid Ahmad Sofi, working at SKICC, has been found violating the MCC guidelines by participating in and facilitating political party meetings.”
The order further states that 'the said employee has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.’
The Model Code of Conduct comes into force from the day and time the election schedule is announced by the Election Commission of India and remains in operation until the completion of the election process, as per the election notification.
District Election Officer, Srinagar, Bilal Mohi ud Din, has also issued instructions for strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and dealing strictly with any violations by employees noticed by the authorities.
