Smart Meters To be Installed For Pending 40,000 Transformers: JKPDCL

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Limited Corporation (JKPDCL) on Saturday stated that the corporation is in the preparation to install smart meters to the left-over 40,000 Distributing Transformers (DTs) in the Kashmir division.

As per, H Rajesh Prasad Administrative Secretary, JKPDD: “The department is going to install smart meters in all 40,000 plus DTs functioning in the Kashmir region so that we have a complete chain from feeder meter to DT meter to consumer meter.

He said that the corporation is fully prepared to replace approximately 9,000 outdated or obsolete desktops (DTs).

He stated that the department's objective is to measure energy right from its source for enhanced accountability.

In addition, the Kashmir valley currently operates around 40,000 Distribution Transformers, and the corporation intends to introduce an additional 9,000 DTs as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
