Revenue Official, Cop Arrested Over Bribe In Khrew

Khrew: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a revenue official (Naib Tehsildar Khrew) over a Rs 10,000 bribe while a constable was also held for allegedly facilitating the offence in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
 
According to an ACB spokesperson, the Bureau received a complaint regarding the Naib Tehsildar of Khrew, located in Pulwama district. The complaint alleged that the Naib Tehsildar was demanding Rs 10,000 from the complainant, through his clerk named Ajaz Ahmad, to settle a dispute concerning ancestral land in the village of Sathpokhran, Khrew Pulwama.
 
“The complainant approached ACB and a case under FIR number 02/2024 under Section 7 PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Anantnag,” he said. 
 
During the investigation, a trap team was formed, which successfully caught the accused Maqbool Hussain Dar, a resident of Nooripor, Pattan, who is currently serving as Naib Tehsildar in Khrew, Pulwama. Dar was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. 
 

Special Grade Constable Ajaz Ahmad, who is attached to the Naib Tehsildar, was also arrested for facilitating the commission of the offense, he added.
