LG Urges NHPC To Solarise All Govt Buildings in J&K

Srinagar: Amid electricity crisis in Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha has called for the Solarising all Government Buildings, directing the Science & Technology Department to collaborate with NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) and identify buildings for solarisation.

During a meeting on Wednesday at the Science and Technology Department in Srinagar, he assessed the progress of key solar power projects and schemes, including the Rooftop Solarization of Government and Residential buildings, Solar Power Plants installed under the Smart City Project, and Floating Solar Power Plants.

The Lt Governor urged the NHPC to solarize all Government buildings within their jurisdiction and instructed the Science & Technology Department to work closely with NHPC in identifying buildings for solarization.

He also discussed important matters related to the functioning of Jammu Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) and Jammu Kashmir Science Technology and Innovation Council (JKST&IC).

The meeting was attended by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance Department; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor; Saurabh Bhagat, Commissioner, Secretary, Science and Technology Department and senior officers of NHPC, Central and the officials from the administration.
