Rajouri: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a case against former tehsildar (Revenue official) Rajouri, former patwari and other officials on corruption charges stating that the former officials illegally transferred land.

In a statement, an ACB spokesperson said a case has been registered under FIR no 02/2024 against Balwant Singh, former Tehsildar of Rajouri (now retired), Mohd Rafiq, former Patwari of Rehtal, and private beneficiaries Kanwal Singh, Masood Anwar, and others.

The case was filed after complaints that Balwant Singh, in collaboration with Kanwal Singh, passed an order on March 25, 2010, which unfairly named Kanwal Singh as the sole tenant-at-will under order No LB-06/C of 1958, excluding other rightful heirs of the late Brij Lal.

“During verification, it was discovered that Balwant Singh and Mohd Rafiq illegally transferred land to the beneficiaries. The revenue officers recorded and approved mutation No 417 under LB 06/C of 1958 and mutation No 419 under S-432 of 1966, both on March 25, 2010, for land totaling 5 kanals and 8 marlas. This transfer favored Kanwal Singh and ignored the rights of Brij Lal, Kanwal Singh’s brother,” reads the statement

The officials, abusing their positions and conspiring with the beneficiaries, granted undue benefits for personal gain. The statement noted that further investigation is ongoing.
