Srinagar: The administration of Jammu and Kashmir, led by LG Manoj Sinha, has recently permitted the online auction of liquor vends across the region.

According to the official statement, J&K's administrative council, under the direction of LG Sinha, granted approval under the J&K Excise Policy for the year 2024-25.

The council meeting was attended by top officials of J&K, including Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to LG; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary of J&K; and Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to LG.

Moreover, the new policy implements additional tax duties on liquor marketing for those passing through manufacturing, import-export, and quality checking tests.

Furthermore, the allocation of vends will be made through E-auction, which includes a registration fee of Rs 50,000/- to be paid by bidders online, as explained in the statement.

However, it is important to mention that the Ladakh administration had earlier ordered a total ban on creating new liquor vends within the region after demands from socio-religious groups.
