According to inputs, Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 23.5°C, which is 3.2°C below normal for this time of year.

Tourist destinations in the region also saw significant dips. Gulmarg in North Kashmir recorded temperatures 6.5°C below normal, while Pahalgam in South Kashmir was 4.0°C below normal.

Qazigund recorded a temperature 4.6°C below normal, while Kupwara and Kokernag reported deviations of 4.5°C and 4.4°C below normal, respectively, according to data from the Meteorological Department (MeT).

In the Chenab Valley, Bhaderwah recorded a maximum temperature of 21.0°C — a sharp 7.8°C below normal.

Meanwhile, Jammu was 2.1°C below normal, and Katra, Banihal, and Batote registered deviations of 2.9°C, 3.4°C, and 2.6°C, respectively.

Director MeT Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said a spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers is expected at many places until Tuesday.

"Generally dry weather is expected from June 3 to 8," he said, adding that a brief spell of rain or showers during late afternoon hours at isolated places cannot be ruled out.

Ahmad also noted that the weather is likely to remain generally dry from June 9 to 10.

The MeT advisory further warned that intense showers at a few places may trigger flash floods.
