4 More Booked Under NDPS In Sopore: 10 Charged In 5 Days

Sopore: Four alleged drug peddlers have been booked under the PIT NDPS Act in north Kashmir's Sopore after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and have been arrested and shifted to Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, as stated by the J&K Police.

In a statement to The Himalayan Post, the Police said: 'The four notorious drug peddlers have been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

They have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Rashid Khan, resident of Model Town C Sopore; Waseem Ahmad Hajam, son of Mohammad Akbar Hajam, resident of Dooru Peer Mohalla; Shahbaz Ahmad Dangroo, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dangroo, resident of Machipora Bomai Sopore; and Sharafatullah Shah, son of Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, resident of Shalpora Sopore, currently residing in Shalimar Colony Sopore.

The booked drug peddlers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu,' reads the statement.

“Many cases have been registered against these drug smugglers, and they were still involved in the drug trade by supplying drugs to the local youth of the Police District Sopore and other areas of the district,” it added.

It is pertinent to mention that the police have consecutively booked and charged 10 people under NDPS in five days: earlier three were booked in north Kashmir’s Baramulla and three in Kupwara district.
