Srinagar: After remaining suspended for more than 15 hours in Srinagar, the officials at Jal Shakti (water) department said the water supply was restored on Saturday afternoon.
A senior official said that the water pipeline catering to most of Srinagar city had accidentally been damaged but was restored today afternoon.
Earlier, a 300 mm dia water supply pipeline catering to most of the city areas like Lal Chowk, Khayam, partly Rajbagh, Khanyar, Safakadal, and other areas was “accidentally” damaged during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday due to the ongoing work taken up by the Srinagar Smart City.
“We also conveyed to the concerned officials of the Srinagar Smart City to inform the Jal Shakti department before undertaking work so that we can apprise them about the water pipelines,” the official said.
