Srinagar, April 26 — The Jammu and Kashmir administration has suspended all trekking activities across Jammu and Kashmir as forces intensify coordinated operations in the upper reaches where militants are believed to be hiding.

According to official sources, the decision was made as a precaution while search operations continue in multiple districts, including Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Rajouri, and Poonch.

“They are using these remote and forested regions as hideouts, and active search operations are underway,” said a senior official.

“As a precautionary measure, all trekking activities have been halted until further notice.”

The ban comes in the backdrop of a series of encounters and rising militant activity in Pir Panchal, Chenab and Jammu belt with forces increasing their presence in dense forests and high-altitude zones where militants are believed to be regrouping, according to officials.

It is pertinent to mention that most of the tourists have fled Kashmir following the Pahalgam attack
