Srinagar: Kashmir experienced above-normal temperatures during the intervening night of Friday-Saturday, with only Gulmarg and Pahalgam maintaining typical winter conditions.
The Meteorological Department forecasted dry weather until December 8.
According to meteorological reports, the minimum temperatures are expected to drop by 3-5°C starting from December 2.
As per the details shared by MeT, Kashmir capital, Srinagar recorded a low of 4.8°C, surpassing the previous night's 4.5°C, and marking a substantial 5.7°C above the seasonal average.
In south Kashmir, Qazigund reported a minimum temperature of 3.4°C compared to the previous night's 2.2°C, representing a 4.4°C departure from the usual for the gateway town of Kashmir.
Pahalgam, the renowned resort in south Kashmir, noted a low of minus 0.4°C, slightly above the previous night's 0.5°C, and registering a 2.9°C above-average temperature for this time of the year.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, experienced a minimum of 2.2°C, slightly higher than the previous night's 2.0°C, with a departure of 2.8°C from the norm.
In contrast, north Kashmir's Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort, recorded a low of minus 3.3°C against the previous night's minus 1.8°C. While still below freezing, the latest temperature was 0.3°C above the seasonal average.
Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2°C, slightly higher than the previous night's 10.7°C, exceeding the typical temperature for this time of year by 1.4°C.
