Srinagar, April 26 — The Resistance Front, a local militant group in the Kashmir Valley, on Saturday denied involvement in the Pahalgam attack, stating that the earlier claim of responsibility posted on social media was the result of a cyber intrusion.
"TRF unequivocally denies any involvement in the Pahalgam incident. Any attribution of this act to TRF is false and hasty," the militant outfit said in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ahmad Khalid.
Shortly after the Pahalgam attack, an "unauthorised" message was posted from one of their digital platforms claiming responsibility, it said.
"After an internal audit, we have reason to believe it was the result of a coordinated cyber intrusion. We are conducting a full investigation to trace the breach, and early indicators suggest fingerprints of Indian cyber-intelligence operatives," they added.
Following the attack, reports stated that over 1,500 people have been detained across the Valley and five homes belonging to local militants have been blown up across South Kashmir.
The Resistance Front (TRF) was banned by the Government of India on January 5, 2023, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
