Srinagar, April 19 — A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region on Saturday, with tremors felt across parts of Kashmir.
The quake occurred at 06:47:55 UTC at a depth of 86 km, with the epicenter located at 36.13°N latitude and 71.38°E longitude, according to data from the GFZ (German Research Centre for Geosciences).
While the region is prone to seismic activity, no immediate reports of damage or casualties have surfaced from either side of the border.
Residents in Kashmir reported feeling light to moderate tremors, but emergency services have not confirmed any impact so far.
