Pulwama, Jan 5 —Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have seized an illegally transported fuel consignment during a routine checking operation in the Litter area, officials said on Sunday.
During the operation, a police team intercepted a load carrier on suspicion and recovered six barrels containing an inflammable substance, believed to be petrol or diesel. The fuel was being transported without any valid authorisation or permit, police said.
The vehicle along with the seized barrels was taken into custody.
In this connection, a case under FIR No. 02/2026 has been registered at Police Station Litter under Sections 303(2) and 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation has been initiated.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the source of the fuel, its intended destination, and to ascertain whether more individuals are involved in the illegal transportation.
