Srinagar, Feb 18 — Authorities at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport on Wednesday said that no charges are being levied on private vehicles for picking up or dropping passengers, provided they remain within the stipulated free time period.

“Private vehicles bearing white number plates can continue to use the pickup and drop facility without any charge, as long as they adhere to the designated time limits,” an airport official said.

The authorities clarified that pickup charges are applicable only to commercial vehicles with yellow number plates, in line with the policy already in force. “There has been no change in the existing policy for private vehicles,” the official added.

The clarification comes after confusion among passengers and local residents following reports suggesting that fees were being imposed for short-duration stops inside the airport premises.

Airport officials said the current arrangement is meant to regulate traffic movement and ensure smoother passenger flow, especially during peak travel hours, while urging commuters to observe the prescribed time restrictions to avoid inconvenience.
