Srinagar, Feb 13 — Forces on Friday carried out a flash cordon and search operation at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, checking multiple hotels and lodges as part of routine security measures in the busy commercial hub.
Officials said teams from the Special Operations Group, along with other forces, verified the credentials of guests and collected details from hotel and lodge owners during the operation.
“The checks were conducted as part of preventive security arrangements. Hotels and lodges in and around Lal Chowk were covered in a systematic manner,” an official said.
Forces maintained a visible presence in the area while the verification process was underway. Traffic movement was regulated briefly during the operation, but normal activity resumed soon after the checks were completed.
Official sources said the exercise was aimed at preventing any potential security threat and ensuring that no suspicious movement goes unnoticed in vulnerable areas. “Such surprise inspections are part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.”
Lal Chowk continues to remain under close surveillance due to its strategic and commercial significance in the city.
