Srinagar: Amid protests at the University of Kashmir and an early winter vacation announcement after a blasphemy incident at NIT Srinagar, authorities have taken cognizance against six individuals for 'social media misuse.'

Reportedly, a non-local student made blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad PBUH, leading to widespread protests across Srinagar's colleges with police repeatedly urging people to desist from ‘provocative’ posts.

“Srinagar Police & Cyber Police Kashmir have taken cognizance against 06 individuals for propagation of false information, instigative content inciting disaffection & anti-social propaganda on social media platforms,” Police said in a post on X.

“Common public is appealed to desist from posting/sharing/propagating instigative/provocative content, misinformation, anti-social propaganda & rumour mongering,” reads the post.
