MeT Forecasts Showers For Kashmir Valley, Restive Regions

Srinagar: The Meteorological Department has forecasted brief spells of rain in the Kashmir Valley and other restive regions in the coming days on Thursday.

The Department announced that light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir (July 7, 8). In addition, intermittent showers are expected in the morning hours at many places in the Jammu region, parts of Kashmir valley, Pir Panchal and Chenab regions.

As per data, the minimum temperature in Kashmir capital, Srinagar was 17.8°C against 17.3°C on the previous night, above normal by 0.7°C.

Qazigund logged 16.0°C against 17.0°C on the previous night and it was 0.5°C above normal for the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley.

Top tourist destination in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam recorded 12.8°C against 11.6°C on the previous, above normal by 2.0°C.

Kokernag-a pool of many small springs with their collective appearance resembling to the claws of a Koker (cock) in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district- recorded a low of 15.6°C against 16.3°C on the previous night, the minimum temperature was above normal by 0.7°C.

World famous Ski-resort in north Kashmir’s Gulmarg noted 10.8°C against 9.4°C on previous night, above normal by 1.0°C.

North Kashmir’s Kupwara logged 15.6°C against 15.4°C on the previous night, above normal by 0.1°C.

Reports from Gurez (coldest place in the north) were unavailable, an LOC (Line of Control region divided between India and Pakistan) and a gateway to the Gilgit region.

In the South, Jammu recorded 24.5°C against 22.8°C on the previous night, below normal by 1.2°C.  and Katra noted 22.6°C, above normal by 0.5°C.

While restive Kashmir’s Banihal in Pir Panchal region recorded a low of 16.1°C (below normal by 1.0°C), Chenab valley’s Bhaderwah registered 17.0°C, below normal by 0.8°C and Batote 17.2°C (0.5°C below normal).

Reports from Ladakh region’s Leh and Kargil were also unavailable.
