Jammu, April 27 — A second-year MBBS student at GMC Jammu was found dead in what is suspected to be a suicide on Sunday morning at the boys' hostel.
The student's name has not been revealed yet, but he is said to be a resident of Mendhar in Poonch district.
According to reports, the student was seen playing cricket late into Saturday night. One of his roommates told GK that when the student did not respond to knocks on the door the following morning, they forced it open and found the body.
Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal of GMC Jammu, confirmed the death, stating that the student had died by suspected suicide.
J&K Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
His body has been moved to the college mortuary and will be handed over to the family after fulfilling legal formalities.
