Srinagar, Apr 29 — Authorities on Wednesday demolished multiple properties linked to alleged drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Shopian districts as part of the Jammu and Kashmir government’s ongoing 100-day anti-narcotics crackdown.

The action, carried out by police in coordination with the civil administration, targeted structures raised on encroached state land and linked to individuals booked in narcotics cases.

In Anantnag’s Sangam area along NH-44, officials razed several roadside eateries constructed on state land under Khasra No. 319. Among them were Kashmir Restaurant owned by Gul Mohammad Mir and his son Bashir Ahmad Mir, both named in multiple FIRs under the NDPS Act at Bijbehara police station. Nearby, Taj Restaurant owned by Mohammad Maqbool Mir and his sons was also demolished over alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking.

Another establishment, Mir Restaurant belonging to their brother Amma Mir, was similarly brought down after authorities said it had been built without authorisation.

In a separate operation in Wachi area of Zainapora in Shopian, shops belonging to Abdul Hamid Ganie and Mohammad Ramzan Ganie were demolished. Officials said both are accused in active narcotics cases in the district.

Officials said the drive is intended to dismantle financial assets linked to the drug trade while reclaiming encroached government land used for illegal activities.
