On Tuesday (March 2), a Muslim man identified as Naseeb Qureshi (47) was allegedly beaten to death by a Hindutva mob on the suspicion of carrying beef in the Rasulpur-Chhapra area of Bihar, the capital of India’s Uttar Pradesh state.

The deceased was attacked along with his nephew who told Maktoob media that at least 15 men including the sarpanch of Jogia village thrashed his uncle with sticks and sharp weapons.

“We were on our way home when a group of 10-15 people, including the sarpanch of Jogia village, attacked us but I managed to escape and directly visited the police station,” Nasseb’s nephew Firoz Qureshi, who was present during the attack said.

Meanwhile, local police maintained that three accused identified as Sushil Singh, Ravi Shah, and Ujjwal Sharma, residents of Jogia- Rasulpur have been arrested in this case under Section 302/379/34 I.P.V.

Since 2014, lynching based on beef and crimes against Indian Muslims kept intensifying across India, most of the time orchestrated by the supporters of Hindutva.

Hindutva (literally “Hindu-ness”) is a modern political ideology that advocates for Hindu supremacy and seeks to transform India, constitutionally a secular state, into an ethnoreligious nation known as the Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation).

Last month, two Muslim men were charred to death in India's Mewat. A few days later, the Police removed the primary accused from the case.
