Srinagar, April 19 — Fresh snowfall in parts of Kashmir Valley has led to the closure of Anantnag-Kishtwar road via Sinthan Top and suspension of classwork in higher reaches of north Kashmir’s Gurez.

According to officials, The (NH244) Anantnag-Kishtwar road via Sinthan Top (crucial link between south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Chenab Valley’s Kishtwar) will remain closed for two days following overnight snowfall.

Authorities cited weather predictions by the MeT department, adding that vehicular movement will resume depending on weather improvement.

In Bandipora’s Gurez subdivision, snowfall continued in Gurez and Tulail areas, with the administration suspending classwork for the safety of students.

“Schools up to 8th standard in Tehsil Tulail and up to 5th standard in Tehsil Gurez have been closed for the day,” the administration said in a statement.

The Valley witnessed continuous rainfall and thunderstorms through the night, with higher reaches like Gurez and Sinthan Pass recording fresh snow accumulation.
