Four non-locals found dead in Kashmir over two days

Tourists, labourer among deceased; police say investigations underway

Srinagar, Jan 24 — Four non-local persons, including two women tourists, were found dead at different locations across the Kashmir Valley over the past two days, according to officials.

In Srinagar, three deaths were reported on Friday from separate locations, while another unidentified non-local was found dead in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials said.

“One tourist, Kamla Bai (65), a resident of Karnataka, was found unconscious in her hotel room at Munawarabad friday morning,” an official said. “She was rushed to Khyber Hospital, Khayam, where doctors declared her brought dead.”

The official said the exact cause of her death was not immediately known. “Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances,” he added.

Earlier during the day, a 53-year-old woman tourist from Gujarat was found dead in her hotel room in the Rajbagh area of Srinagar, officials said. In another incident, a 51-year-old labourer from Kerala was found dead inside his room at a cement factory in Khanmoh on the outskirts of the city.

Meanwhile, in north Kashmir, an unidentified non-local man was found dead near TCP Palhallan in Baramulla district on Saturday. Officials said the deceased is believed to be a truck driver by profession.

“Police teams have reached all the sites and necessary legal procedures are being followed,” the official said. “Investigations are underway in all cases.”
