Anantnag: An Islamic seminary (Darul Uloom) and a residential house suffered damage in a fire incident in the old Eidgah area of Anantnag town, South Kashmir, on Sunday evening.
An official stated that a fire broke out in a residential house and spread to the main building of Idara Tehqeqaat-e-Islamia, a renowned religious seminary in Jammu and Kashmir.
He mentioned that locals, along with the fire and emergency department and police, rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire.
He further added that while the fire was contained, it caused significant damage to the residential house and the main building of Idara Tehqeqat-e-Islami, resulting in the burning of hundreds of Islamic books to ashes.
According to preliminary investigations, a short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire. Further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
