Authorities Close Sinthan Pass For Three Days

Srinagar: Authorities on Thursday closed Sinthan pass (a mountainous highway connecting south Kashmir’s Anantnag district with Chenab region’s Kishtwar) for three days amid a forecast of inclement weather conditions. 

“Given the wet spell prediction on March 16, 17, and 18, people of Tehsil Larnoo and tourists are advised to refrain from venturing or traveling in the area”, Tehsildar Larnoo said in an advisory.

“Also in compliance with the directions of SDM (Sub-district Magistrate), Kokernag, SHO (Station Housing officer), Larnoo and Naib Tehsildar (revenue official), Larno are hereby directed to setup naka (checkpoint) at daksum to restrict all kinds of vehicular traffic,” it reads.

Moreover, Assistant tourist officer, Kokernag shall place four tourist guards at Daksum from 4 pm to 9 am for three days, when the aforementioned roads are to closed”, the advisory reads further.
