Police Arrest Four With Hash & Brown Sugar At Checkpoints In North, South Kashmir

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested four persons accused of drug peddling after recovering 230 grams of Hash and two grams of brown sugar from their possession in south Kashmir’s Kulgam and in north Kashmir’s Baramulla. 

In a statement, Police said that a party of the police station, DH Pora headed by SHO _Stataion House officer) PS DH Pora established a checkpoint in Kounsarbal area and intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot. However, he was apprehended tactfully.

During the search, 110 grams of hash (charas) were recovered from his possession after which he was arrested.

He has been identified as Aejaz Ahmad Malik and a resident of Ahmadabad, Kulgam.

Similarly, a police party of Police Station, Qazigund led by SHO PS Qazigund established a checkpoint at Dalwach- Qazigund and another suspicious person identified as Gazanfar Ahmad Wani and a resident of Banihal. Two grams of brown sugar were recovered from his possession and arrested immediately.

In Baramulla, a Police party under the supervision of SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) (Uri, assisted by SHO PS Boniyar, established a checkpoint at Chellan Boniyar and arrested two persons, identified as Wazir Ahmad Joo, a resident of Trikanjan and Syed Shahid Hussain-resident of Gingal as 120 grams of Charas and cash amount of ₹10,000/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotics crime) was recovered from their possession.

Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law stand registered at respective police stations and an investigation has been initiated.
