A 32-year-old man allegedly killed his wife, chopped her body into five pieces, and hid them inside an empty water tank at his house in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district.

Police recovered the body parts from the tank which was kept inside the house. Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI that the accused strangled his wife Sati Sahu (23) on January 6 on suspicions of infidelity.

As per police, Santosh Singh used to print counterfeit currency which came to light when a team of Bilaspur police's anti-crime and cyber unit raided the house after receiving information about counterfeit currency.

“The police conducted a raid on his house and noticed that a foul odor was emanating from a room close to the bathroom. Afterward, they recovered the body parts, which were wrapped in tape and polythene, from an empty water tank kept in the room.”

The man revealed during the police interrogation that he suspected ‘his wife was having an extramarital affair’ and said she was also interfering in the work of printing counterfeit currency.

This is the third such case where a woman’s body was chopped and disposed of by his male partner.

A grueling case of murder was reported in the capital New Delhi, where a 28-year-old man Aftab Poonawala killed his girlfriend, chopped her into 35 pieces, stored them in a refrigerator- he bought them for that purpose, and then disposed of them across the city for 18 days.

Consequently, a similar case was reported in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur where a man named Pankaj Maurya confessed to the police that he killed his wife – Jyoti alias Sneha – along with one of his companions after citing cheating. He also chopped her body into several pieces to hide her identity.
