‘Second Faces Of BJP’: Political Fracas Between Azad, Abdullah

Srinagar: Democratic Azad Party chief Ghulam Nabi Azad's claim of Abdullah holding secret meetings with PM Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah was met with a strong retort from Omar Abdullah stating that Azad was the only unionist who remained free when the Government of India abrogated Article 370.

In an interview, Azad alleged duplicity on Abdullah's part, stating, "Abdullah says one thing in Srinagar, another in Jammu, and something else in Delhi." In response, Omar Abdullah sarcastically suggested that Azad was allegedly planted for the BJP to cater to the Chenab Valley audience.

“Abdullahs knew about 370, yet we were detained for more than 8 months under PSA, and you were free, the only ex-CM in J&K free after 5th Aug," he said in a post on X.

“Abdullahs meet secretly” yet my father is the one thrown out of his Govt house when he wasn’t MP & you are allowed to keep your ministerial bungalow? “Abdullahs say one thing in Kashmir & another in Delhi” yet PM cries for you in Rajya Sabha & criticises us in every speech. Let’s not forget the Padma award for which you agreed to leave Congress & help BJP in Chenab valley. Who is Azad & who is Ghulam, time will tell & people will decide,” reads the Post.

This fracas comes after BJP’s senior leader Davender Singh Rana alleged that NC wanted to join the BJP in 2014.

“In 2014, Omar Abdullah approached the BJP to join hands in forming a government, but the offer was turned down by the BJP,” Rana said.

However, JKNC’s Additional Spokesperson Sara Hayat Shah has strongly dispelled these allegations stating that NC was against BJP even in 2014.

Shah in her video statement said, “These are totally fake allegation on JKNC, in fact NC was totally against BJP back in 2014.”

While criticising Rana’s allegations, Shah said, “To overthrow the BJP, NC was offering un-conditional support to PDP in 2014 to form a coalition government.”

“We know who are working according to the scripts of BJP. Here we have ‘A’ ‘B’ and ‘C’ political parties which are nothing but second faces of BJP,” shah further said.

These allegations surfaced when NC Chief Farooq Abdullah announced that the National Conference would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and Assembly polls independently on all seats.

Following this, Omar Abdullah, NC’s vice president, clarified that the party continues to remain a member of the INDIA alliance to engage in the political fight against the BJP.
