Srinagar: Three OGWs (Over Ground Workers) working for Lashkar-i-Toiba armed group were arrested along with the cash amount of 31, 65,200 rupees at Nowgam- Lasjan Crossing (NHW) in Srinagar, Police said.
The accused OGWs have been identified as Umar Adil Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar- resident of Soiteng, Bilal Ahmad Sidiqi, son of Ghulam Ahmad Sididqi -resident of Kursoo Rajbagh and Salik Mehraj, son of Mehraj Din Dar and a resident of Soiteng. However, The Himalayan Post couldn't independently verify their age.
In a statement to The Himalayan Post, the J&K Police said that a police party of Police Station Nowgam during routine checking at Lasjan Crossing (NHW) spotted three suspicious individuals carrying a blue color cricket kit bag and trying to avoid the police force at the checkpoint.
They were tactfully apprehended and frisked during which ₹31,65,200
(Thirty-One Lac, Sixty-Five thousand and two hundred rupees) were recovered along with a Mobile Phone, and three pages of LeT letter pad, the police statement reads.
"The money was given to them as a part of a conspiracy to strengthen its cadres within Srinagar on the directions of their handlers based in Pakistan," it further reads.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 20/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowgam.
Further investigation into the case is in progress.
