Srinagar: The authorities of the irrigation and Flood Control division in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and Srinagar Municipal corporation have issued two separate notices asking residents to remove illegal ‘encroachments’ over the water bodies on Saturday.

As per the orders, the irrigation and Flood Control division in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district asked residents to remove illegal encroachments over Jhelum river banks and other water bodies within seven days, failing which strict action would be taken against the encroachers.

“If any person fails to remove the encroachment, the department would swing into action and people have to pay the charges of the same,” reads (I&FC) notice.

It reads strict action under the law would be taken against the people who fail to remove illegal encroachments. As per officials separate eviction notices have been issued to residents across the district for the same.

Moreover, SMC under the Smart City project directed residents to vacate illegal structures along the belt of Doodh Ganga from Alochi Bagh to Chattabal in Srinagar.

“Doodh Ganga is an important channel for the management of stormwater; to rejuvenate and restore the water body- all encroachers are given 7 days to vacate from the area,” it reads.
