Srinagar, April 10 — The residence of jailed separatist leader Peer Saifullah was raided by police on Thursday, with officials stating the search was linked to an ongoing UAPA case.

The raid follows an intensified crackdown on separatist networks across Jammu and Kashmir, with premises being raided on a daily basis and several Hurriyat factions pledging allegiance to India.

Along with Peer Saifullah, presently lodged in Tihar Jail, the residence of Advocate Ashraf Laya—currently residing in Old Barzulla and originally from Jamia Qadeem Baramulla—was also searched. Both individuals are associated with the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, police noted.

“Incriminating materials, including books, pamphlets, letterheads, and letters relevant to the investigation, were recovered from Peer Saifullah’s house and seized in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses,” a police official said.

The searches were supervised by police and civil officials, and the investigation remains underway.

“The search was conducted in connection with FIR No. 01/2024 of Rajbagh Police Station, which pertains to activities linked to banned organisations under sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA. Search warrants were issued by the designated NIA Court in Srinagar, police said.

“Anyone found aiding separatist or terrorist agendas will face strict legal action,” police added.
