The parliament of Pakistan dimissed the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday by terming it against Article 5 of the Constitution.

"This no-confidence motion is against the constitution. I rule out this no-confidence motion in accordance with the constitution," legislative body's deputy speaker Asad Qaiser said as the session started.

Pakistan PM said he had advised the president to dissolve the Parliament and call for fresh elections.

Prime Minister Khan reacted to the events just minutes after, saying when the advice reaches the president, assemblies will be dissolved which will be followed by the process of setting up a caretaker government.

Pakistan’s embattled PM was set to face the no-confidence vote on Sunday after Minister PM's crucial ally switched to the opposition ahead of a no-confidence motion.

His coalition partners along with 17 of his own party members joined the opposition to remove him.

However, the Prime minister blamed a foreign-funded conspiracy to topple down his government.

The opposition needs a simple majority of 172 votes in Pakistan’s 342-seat Parliament to unseat Mr Imran.

The political turmoil started in Pakistan earlier this month after the opposition announced it would bring a no-confidence motion against Imran Khan’s government over accusations of mismanaging the nation’s economy.

In Pakistan's 75-years-of political history, no prime minister has ever completed his term which has been marred by frequent coups by the country’s powerful military.
