Srinagar, Apr 27– As the crackdown in Kashmir continues, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has appealed to the Government of India to ensure that innocent people do not become collateral damage.

In a post on X, CM Omar stated: "After the Pahalgam terror attack, the people of Kashmir have come out openly against the murder of innocent people. There must be a decisive fight against terrorism and its origin, not against the people."

He added, "It’s time to build on this support and avoid any misplaced actions that alienate people. Punish the guilty, show them no mercy, but don’t let innocent people become collateral damage."

His remarks came shortly after former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Srinagar MP Ruallah Mehdi raised concerns over the ongoing crackdown.

Moreover, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also expressed concern over the damage to properties of innocent people on his social media handles.
