A 40-year-old Muslim man, identified as Hifzur Rahman was brutally lynched by a mob in Hojai area of Assam on Sunday.
Rahman, who was reported to be mentally unstable, fell victim to a mob fueled by suspicion of cattle theft.
Family members and local residents vehemently deny any involvement of Rahman in such activities, highlighting his mental condition as evidence.
Six individuals have been identified and subsequently arrested in connection with the mob lynching, Police said.
The accused have been named as Sanjay Das, Nikhil Das, Tulendra Das, Uttam Chakraborty, Jayanta Chakraborty, and Sandhu Mazumdar.
