Srinagar: A man was stabbed to death by his nephew during a scuffle in Hafta Yarbal locality of Srinagar's Safakadal on Sunday morning, with the accused already arrested, according to officials.
The victim, identified as Fayaz Ah Ganie, aged 37, son of Wali Mohd Ganie and a resident of Haft Yarbal, Safa Kadal.
An altercation ensued between the uncle (Nisar Ahmad Ganie) and nephew (Irfan Ahmad Ganie), with Fayaz Ahmad Ganie attempting to intervene. Sadly, he was stabbed by Irfan, leading to his death, quoted an official from the news agency KNO.
Following the incident, the victim was rushed to SMHS hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police swiftly apprehended the accused within hours of the incident, the official confirmed.
"The weapon used in the attack has been seized. Forensic analysis and medico-legal procedures are currently underway, and further investigation is ongoing," he stated.
A case, FIR No. 29/2024, under relevant sections of the law, has been registered at Police Station Safakadal, he added.
