LG Govt Demolishes Former Minister’s Commercial Building In Shopian

Srinagar: A commercial structure belonging to a former minister was demolished in South Kashmir’s Shopian town on Friday during the ongoing eviction drive in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The commercial structure belonging to Ghulam Hassan Khan, a former Social Welfare Minister was demolished at Main Chowk Shopian, an official said.

As per reports, Khan has encroached five marlars in Shopian's Hergam village where four shops have been built on the state land.

Khan was earlier associated with Congress and recently joined Altaf Bukhari led Apni Party.

“It was demolished as part of the anti-encroachment drive on state land classified as Kahcharai (garzaing land) or those allotted under Roshni act.”

No one is above law and such demolition drives will continue in the district, he added.
