Srinagar: Indian military on Wednesday said it foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Mandi area of Poonch district by killing two militants. However, the identities remain ascertained.
A statement released by the Jammu-based defense spokesperson said that late last night, two intruders were spotted crossing the Line of Control in the challenging terrain of the Mandi area. Responding swiftly, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“Taking advantage of the hostile terrain, dense jungle cover, and steep gradients, the intruders engaged in a heavy exchange of fire with forces. This intense firefight persisted until the following day, ultimately resulting in the elimination of both terrorists,” reads the statements.
“One body along with war like stores was recovered while searches are underway for second one,” it added.
