Srinagar, May 11 — The X account of Peoples Democratic Party leader Iltija Mufti has been withheld in India, with the social media platform stating that the action was taken “in response to a legal demand”.
Users attempting to access Mufti’s account from within India were shown a notice stating that access to the account had been restricted in compliance with a legal request.
Such notices are generally displayed by X when accounts are withheld under legal provisions or official directives issued by authorities.
The development comes days after the Cyber Police Kashmir registered an FIR against Mufti over the sharing of a video clip featuring late Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on social media.
Officials had earlier said the case was registered in connection with the circulation of content allegedly linked to maintaining public order and legal compliance on digital platforms.
There was no immediate statement from Mufti or the PDP regarding the withholding of the account.
