Srinagar: A civilian was injured after an unknown gunman fired upon him at the Hassanpora area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday evening.
Sources said that suspected militants fired upon a civilian identified as Asif Ali Ganai, son of Ali Mohammad Ganai, a slain head constable of Jammu and Kashmir police.
As per reports, he was shot outside a mosque in the Hassanpora area.
He was immediately shifted to the Sub-district hospital, Bijbehara where his condition is said to be ‘stable’, sources said.
Meanwhile, a joint team of forces have cordoned off the area and a search operation has been started to nab the attackers.
