Kathua, Jan 7 — An exchange of fire broke out between militants and police forces in the Kamadh Nullah area of Kathua district on Wednesday, officials said.
According to a senior police officer, the Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs.
During the operation, militants opened fire on the security personnel, after which the forces retaliated.
No further details were immediately available. Officials said the operation was continuing and more information would be shared as it emerges.
