Ambala: The Ambala police have issued a warning to protesting farmers against causing damage to government and private property during the ongoing protests stating that properties belonging to the accused will be seized, including bank accounts owned by the farmers.

In a press release issued by Ambala police, Police said that “farmer organisations have been making continuous efforts to breach the barricades imposed on the Shambhu border. These attempts have reportedly resulted in disruptions to law and order, with instances of protesters pelting stones at the police administration and causing damage to government and private property through encroachment.”

“The damages are currently being assessed. As the administration had previously warned that if protesters caused any harm to government or private property, compensatory measures would be taken by seizing their property and bank accounts,” reads the release.

“Notably, an amendment to the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984 allows for holding individuals and officials of organizations responsible for any damage to public property during movements.”
