Hundreds of worshippers were beaten by Israeli forces to prevent thousands of young men from entering the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite that 60,000 Palestinians performed Eid al-Adha prayers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday.

According to media reports, dozens were injured after Israeli forces used batons and rifle butts to beat Palestinians, particularly at the King Faisal, Hatta, and Al-Silsilah Gates.

During the Eid sermon, however, Sheikh Youssef Abu spoke about Israel's ongoing war on Gaza with devotees mourning the victims of Israel’s eight-month long war in Gaza.

Palestinians observed Eid at the Al-Aqsa Mosque just days after extremists stormed the compound to mark the Jewish holiday of Shavuot and performed rituals forbidden under the Status Quo agreement.

At least 37,347 Palestinian civilians have been killed and 85,372 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7.
