New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has invited all political parties across the country to participate in a meeting in New Delhi.
An official said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has invited all major political parties in India including JK PDP (Jammu & Kashmir People's Democratic Party) and JKNC (Jammu & Kashmir National Conference) to participate in a meeting at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 16 January.
"The Election Commission of India (ECI) has developed a prototype to enable remote voting for migrant workers and students and called for an all-party meeting on January 16 to demonstrate the technology, designed to address low voter turnout and to seek feedback," he said.
The purpose is a demonstration of EVMs (electronic voting machines)
& VVPATs (Voter verifiable paper audit trail or verified paper record (VPR) which is being organized in New Delhi by ECI, he added.
