New Delhi, May 1 — Prices of commercial LPG cylinders were sharply increased from Friday, with the 19-kg cylinder rising by ₹993 to ₹3,071.50 in Delhi, officials said, a move expected to raise operating costs for restaurants, hotels and other establishments.

There was no change in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder, used by households across the country.

“The price revision applies to commercial and bulk LPG categories, while domestic LPG remains unchanged,” sources said.

The 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder was also hiked by ₹261 per unit with immediate effect.

Officials said LPG prices are revised monthly based on international benchmarks and currency fluctuations. India imports a significant portion of its LPG requirements, linking domestic commercial rates to global trends.

The increase follows volatility in crude oil markets in recent weeks amid tensions in West Asia. Brent crude had surged to around $126 per barrel on Thursday before easing to about $113 on Friday.

Industry participants said the steep rise in commercial LPG prices could translate into higher food costs. “Such increases typically push up input costs for eateries and may be passed on to consumers,” an industry source said.

Commercial and bulk LPG account for a smaller share of overall consumption, while domestic LPG—often subsidised—has remained stable in recent months to shield households from inflation.
