Jammu: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the candidacies of incumbent MPs Dr. Jitendera Singh and Jugal Kishore for the Udhampur and Jammu parliamentary seats, respectively, marking their third consecutive contest.

The decision comes after extensive discussions, with further deliberations ongoing for the Srinagar, South, and North Kashmir constituencies.

A second list of candidates is expected next week, with Dr. Darakshan Andrabi emerging as a potential contender for the Srinagar seat.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde revealed that during the BJP Parliamentary Meeting held on February 29, decisions were made regarding 195 candidates from 16 states and two Union Territories.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be contesting from Varanasi, reaffirming his candidacy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, known for his role in the 2008 Amarnath Land Row agitation, has been a prominent figure in Jammu politics since then. His electoral debut in 2014 saw him defeating former Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad, subsequently earning key responsibilities in the Prime Minister's Office.

Jugal Kishore Sharma, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker and former J&K BJP president, has also been a stalwart in the party. His electoral success in 2014 and 2019 reflects his strong grassroots support and dedication to the cause.
