Srinagar: Former Minister Taj Mohiuddin who resigned in support of veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday said their yet to be launched political party was invited for the meeting to be chaired by National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday in Jammu over the issue of giving voting rights to non- locals.

Taj Mohiuddin told Kashmir News Observer that they have been invited to attend the meeting.

“Farooq Abdullah called me and invited us for the meeting,” he said, adding that he has informed Ghulam Nabi Azad about the invitation.

On being asked whether they would participate in the meeting, Taj said that he is not sure about it.

“I asked Azad Sahab to talk directly with Farooq Sahab (on the matter),” he said, adding that “maybe someone from Jammu would be deputed to participate in the meeting.”

Taj Mohiuddin quitted Congress soon after the Veteran leader Azad resigned from the party. Azad also called Rahul Gandhi a non- serious individual in his resignation letter.

Meanwhile, this would be the second all-party meeting to be chaired by NC president and Lok Sabha MP Farooq Abdullah on the issue of voting rights to non-locals.

The first meeting was chaired at Gupkar residence in Srinagar attended by National Conference, Congress, People Democratic Party, Awami National Conference (ANC), Shiv Sena, CPI(M), JDU and Akali Dal.

The mainstream leaders pledged to fight against the move in the Judiciary.
